Female on Male Rape

This just struck me as a better place for this topic. Thanks for another thought-provoking post Murasaki.

Everyone have a different reaction for certain word that push us personally, so I think it is nearly impossible to decide one (or more) most insulting word for men (or women).

This might be off the topic, but talk about insulting for men, I had a boy friend confess to me when he was drunk, that he was raped by a woman once, without strap on. I really have no idea how can that happen, and I really didn't know how to react that time (and still, not understand). From what I saw, he is really really humiliated and insulted. He realize what he told me after he sober, and we didn't talk for weeks. When we hang together again felt a bit awkward...

What I still really want to know, how can that possibly happen and how come it is humiliating? That woman didn't force penetrate anything inside his body anyway. I'm sorry if I offend anyone in here, I'm just totally clueless. Undecided

Unfortunately Murasaki, it is possible for men to be raped without being penetrated. It's rare, but possible, and there are some documented cases. Some people, both male and female, do experience physiological signs of sexual "arousal" during rapes, which can often lead to an increased sense of shame after the attack. And coercion can take many forms...physical, violent, emotional, blackmail, drugs and alcohol, etc. The notion that there is a societal stigma attached to men showing emotional vulnerability was coincidentally mentioned in this same thread - "big boys don't cry" - just consider the stigma associated with "men don't get raped by women." Imagine the shame attendant with that scenario. I know you to be a compassionate and rationale poster. If you are interested, Google "female on male rape" and check out the sites that describe and document this phenomenon. One of the links below actually includes a transcribed interview of a woman who raped a man. It's disturbing to say the least.

"Non statutory female on male rape is widely, but incorrectly, considered impossible because male erectile response is seen as voluntary, when, in fact, it is involuntary. [3][4] Fear, anger, anxiety, and non-arousal have been cited as factors in being unable to obtain an erection. [2][5] Therefore, male victims of rape by females [6] often face social, political, and legal double standards. [7] Though studies show otherwise [8], female rapists are usually seen as less culpable than male rapists by the courts due to these misunderstandings. Those who do not understand the law in many jurisdictions fail to realize that the forcible penetration of a male by a foreign object or a digit also constitutes the same crime. Since rape by females is much less well known than male-female rape, male victims of female rapists often find little support from rape crisis centers.

Due to these reasons, and the difficulties and comparative rarity of female on male rape compared to standard or statutory rape, it is likely being substantially under-reported in the United States and other developed countries.[9]"

"A woman's physiological response to sexual contact are involuntary and in no way imply consent. Women can become aroused, their body can produce natural lubrications, and they can even orgasm against their will while being raped."

Alice: So how did you feel at that point?

Sarah: Disgusted(…) and so sad in myself really that I had to go to go to that extent to try and get the love that I wanted(….) I still find it funny though(…) and I’ll tell you why I think it’s funny is because—it’s something that women don’t do(…) if it was a guy we would be up in arms about it(…) that’s what makes it almost humorous, that you know for once it’s a women doing this, needing a f*** and going for it.

Alice: Is that what it was for you?

Sarah: No, no (….) It was I want him to be inside me, I want to feel him inside me, I want him to love me. I felt used and hurt to that point that I did it(….) [T]hat you know, f*** you’ve used me, so I’m going to use you. (Bailey 1998)

Here's a movie reference:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myra_Breckinridge_(film)

Myra Breckinridge is a campy American comedy film released in 1970. Based on the 1968 novel of the same name by Gore Vidal, the film was directed by Michael Sarne, with Raquel Welch in the title role. It also starred John Huston as Buck Loner, Mae West as Letitia Van Allen (spelled Leticia in the film), Farrah Fawcett, Roger Herren, and Roger C. Carmel. Theadora Van Runkle was costume designer for the film, but Edith Head designed Mae West's costumes. Like the novel, the picture was controversial for its sexual explicitness, but unlike the novel, Myra Breckinridge received little to no critical praise and has been cited as one of the worst films ever made.

Upon its release, the film was a commercial and critical flop, but has since achieved something of a cult following. Gore Vidal has since disowned the film calling it "an awful joke".

The film was released after the Hays Code was abandoned in 1968. Consequently, the studio had the freedom to exploit some of the novel's more burlesque episodes, including the infamous rape scene. In this scene, Myra blackmails a male student into letting her tie him up to the examination table. She then rapes him with a strap-on dildo. Afterwards, she even makes him thank her for the trouble she has taken. This constituted the first time a non statutory female on male rape was filmed in a mainstream American film.

When the film was released, Time magazine made their now infamous comments that "Myra Breckinridge is about as funny as a child molester. It is an insult to intelligence, an affront to sensibility and an abomination to the eye."
